Le sociologue nous offre ici une fine analyse des formes contemporaines que prend le racisme dans des sociétés se disant postraciales comme le Québec et le Canada. Son propos nous offre des clés de compréhension pour mieux appréhender sociologiquement la notion de blanchité. Il permet également de saisir les nombreux discours et mesures drapés d’oripeaux acceptables et progressistes s’accompagnant de formes latentes de racisme difficilement perceptibles par les regards profanes.
Paul Eid est professeur de sociologie à l’UQAM et membre de l’Équipe de recherche sur l’immigration au Québec et ailleurs (ÉRIQA). Ses intérêts de recherche portent sur l’immigration, les relations interethniques, le processus de construction identitaires des enfants d’immigrant-es, le racisme, la discrimination raciste à l'embauche, le profilage racial et l’islamophobie.
