L’Action catholique, un journal de Québec fondé en 1907, était soutenu par l’Église et représentait les opinions d’une grande partie de l’élite francophone conservatrice. Pierre Anctil est professeur émérite au département d’histoire de l’Université d’Ottawa, où il a enseigné l’histoire canadienne contemporaine et l’histoire juive canadienne depuis 2004. En 2020, il a reçu le Prix Gérard-Parizeau, remis chaque année alternativement dans les champs de l’économie et de la gestion, puis de l’histoire, afin de souligner la contribution exceptionnelle d’un chercheur dans ces domaines. Son dernier livre a paru à l’automne 2021 sous le titre : Antijudaïsme et influence nazie au Québec: le cas du journal L’Action catholique de Québec, 1931-1939.
